【Forward】2026 The Robert K.S. Lim and Shih-Chun Wang Memorial Scholarships and Awards
1. Purpose
The foundation and various awards were established by Academicians Robert K.S. Lim and Shih-Chun Wang (teacher and student), two senior figures in the field of physiology, to encourage domestic researchers and young students to conduct research in the fields of physiology, pharmacology and neuroscience, and to enhance Taiwan's international academic standards and status.
2. Scholarship and grant programs
(A) Predoctoral Award: This program provides a living allowance to domestic students who are pursuing doctoral degrees in physiology, pharmacology, or neuroscience abroad during the initial period of their studies. The allowance is provided for 6-12 months, with a monthly allowance of US$1,000.
(B) Advanced Study Award: The grants are awarded to (1) postdoctoral researchers and (2) teachers and researchers from domestic colleges and universities and research institutions who go abroad to study and learn knowledge and skills. The fields are the same as in (A). The grant period is 3-6 months and the monthly grant is US$1,100.
3. Application methods
Applicants for (A) should prepare: 1. an acceptance letter from a foreign school (must be a school ranked in the top quartile of the field), 2. undergraduate or graduate transcripts, 3. a resume and a list of publications, 4. two letters of recommendation, and 5. supporting documents for other scholarships or grants.
Applicants for (B) should prepare: 1. A letter from the overseas institution agreeing to the applicant's study abroad; 2. If the applicant is already employed as a teaching or research staff member in Republic of China, a letter from their supervisor in the domestic agreeing to their study abroad; if applying for postdoctoral research, a letter of recommendation from a supervising professor is required; 3. A resume and a list of publications. Note: Applicants who have already received scholarships or grants from domestic or overseas institutions are not eligible to apply for this scholarship or grant again.
4. Both award recipients are required to return to Republic of China to continue their teaching and research work after completing their studies or further education (a consent form must be signed before leaving the country).
